Things that models should know
Modeling is so much more than looking cute. Agencies just don’t have time for uninformed people. Before any aspiring model comes to a modeling agency, she needs to do some homework. You have to know what you are doing. If you want to hit the runway and pose for magazines, these are some of the things that you should know:
Find the best agency
You should always aim for the top agencies, and if you can’t sign with a top agency initially, you should try to develop a good book by doing test shots with photographers, so that a top agency will sign you.
Leave your problems at home
Don’t bring an attitude to the set. A negative attitude is just as infectious as a positive one.
Be nice to everyone, even the people you don’t think matter
I can’t tell you how many times I was ignored or treated like a servant. Guess what, I had a whole lot of influence and I used it. The models, makeup artists, stylists, etc. who were kind and positive got a recommendation from me when we were looking to fill those positions at future shoots.
Don’t turn down opportunities
A lot of people don’t realize that some designers don’t pay new models. But if you are new to the industry, you should never turn down an opportunity to work with a top designer, even if you are not being paid. An editor may see you walk in a show, and decide to use you for an editorial spread.
Be on time
This is quite possibly the most important tip. One of the worst things you can do is be late for your call-time. The entire day is planned out so as not to waste time or money. Do NOT be late.
